When it comes to Valentine’s Day, there is nothing not to like! The designer of this quilt created an easy little heart quilt block and put it into a small quilt design just for the upcoming holiday.
It is possible to make all of the hearts in a single color or if you wish, you can make them in a mixture of colors. The background could be made up of scrappy fabrics, or you can just use one piece of fabric. There are so many options available to you!
This pattern will help you make scrappy hearts in bright colors using one background fabric and just one border and binding fabric.
The size of this finished wall quilt is 18-1/2 inches x 18-1/2 inches.
Finished block size is 3 inches x 3 inches.
The designer used two similar colors for each heart on this quilt, so that each heart would have a similar look. I recommend that you choose pairs of fabrics that you like together before you begin cutting the fabric.
It is important to make sure that your hearts fabric contrasts with the background in order to make your hearts stand out. The hearts must therefore be considerably darker or lighter than the background in order to make them stand out.
Stitch-and-flip blocks, also known as easy corner triangles, are used in this block.
It is up to you whether you mark the diagonal line before sewing. There is a good chance that you can get away with not marking these since they are small enough. It is a good idea to mark the diagonal line on the wrong side of each 2 inch x 2 inch patch if you wobble a little bit. You shouldn’t need to mark the 1-inch x 1-inch blocks.
