The size of your quilt can be changed by changing the number of blocks in it!
A finished single block following the pattern instructions measures 7 inches square.
One simple block and an assortment of scraps all come together to make a quilt that is both colorful and charming.
This quilt has the look of tartan thanks to the light background strips and the darker squares.
The tutorial provides you with the instructions you need to craft this quilt with scraps that will complement any color scheme.
It doesn’t matter whether you want a vibrant, colorful painting or a more conservative, coordinated palette, pretty much any choice of colors comes together beautifully with this design!
There are a number of ways in which this quilt block can be used to make other quilts as well.
Combine several blocks for a table runner, a baby quilt, or a quilt of any size.
Just make the quilt block by stitching the 7′′ blocks together until the size you desire is reached.
To make each block you’ll need:
- Four 3-1/2 inch squares
- Four background strips that measure 1-1/2 inches x 3-1/2 inches
- One 1-1/2 inch square.
The blocks for this quilt are designed such that they are sewn together like 9-patch quilt blocks.
You can see that when the blocks are combined they resemble a 4-patch pattern with sashing and cornerstones.
